I contextualise the current "light-skin, skinny and younger-look" beauty standard in China. Some of the Chinese girls around me, including myself, have been influenced and judged by the strict beauty standard. My aim is to show the audience with current Chinese beauty standard issues, and to encourage girls not to be defined by any beauty standards.
I interviewed some Chinese Generation Z girls from different industry. I gained an insight into each person's own appearance anxieties, as well as their perceptions of the beauty standards of women on Chinese social media. I extracted information from my conversations with them, and present some of the information in my photography.
The media of my work is a combination of photography and 3d modelling, along with my own conceptual scenarios to recreate the girls' moods, anxieties and behaviours in the context of Chinese aesthetic standards.
